What’s on at the ORTUS

The award-winning centre, built by the Maudsley Charity, provides a space for learning and connection to staff, patients and our local community

In 2013 the Maudsley Charity built the ORTUS on the site of the hospital. The building, which is home to the Charity, has a focus on learning, education and connection, and supports the wider work of the Charity and its partners.

It creates opportunities for collaboration, and sharing knowledge on site. Those who benefit include the Charity’s hospital and educational partners: South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), King’s College London, and other grant recipients.

The Maudsley Charity hosts regular events at the ORTUS, including workshops, information sharing days and exhibitions. For details of other (non Maudsley Charity) events taking place in the building visit the ORTUS Events website.

The ORTUS Café

The building includes The ORTUS café, serving healthy and delicious food and coffees, which is open to everyone. A key aim is to break down stigma and this space welcomes everyone from patients and staff, to the local community and those looking for work space.

ORTUS Conferencing and Events Space

The building also offers state-of-the art events and conferencing space. It has over 1500 sqm/16,000 sqf of dedicated, flexible event space with state-of-the-art technology and audio-visual equipment, as well as high-speed Wi-Fi.

The space is suitable for conferences, meetings, training courses, workshops, academic lectures, receptions and a range of other events. There are discounted rates for the public sector and non-for-profit organisations.
